What Makes It Worth It

15-bar pump pressure. The standard for proper espresso extraction — produces a rich, full-bodied shot with genuine crema on top, every single time.
Manual milk frother. Steam and froth milk exactly how you like it — velvety microfoam for lattes, thick froth for cappuccinos, or a simple warm milk for café au lait.
Adjustable drip tray. Fits everything from a small espresso cup to a tall travel mug — no more awkward balancing acts or spilled shots.
Slim Italian stainless steel design. Only 6 inches wide — fits on even the most cramped counter without dominating the space. Looks premium, takes up minimal room.
Espresso, latte, cappuccino & iced coffee. One machine, every coffee drink you actually order at a café — made at home, at a fraction of the cost.

Our Experience & Tips

After pulling dozens of shots and steaming gallons of milk with the De'Longhi Dedica, a few things stood out immediately. First, the 15-bar pump pressure combined with the pressurized portafilter makes it almost impossible to pull a bad shot. Even if your coffee grind is slightly off, the machine compensates, giving you a rich, thick crema every single time. Second, the heat-up time is ridiculously fast—under 40 seconds. You can go from turning the machine on to drinking your espresso in the time it takes to get a mug out of the cabinet. However, our biggest tip is to purge the steam wand immediately after frothing milk. If the milk bakes onto the inside of the wand, it becomes nearly impossible to clean and will ruin the seal over time.

Compared to expensive prosumer machines that require a degree in engineering to operate, the Dedica is refreshingly simple. It takes up almost zero counter space—barely wider than a standard coffee mug. The bottomless water tank is easy to fill without moving the machine, and the cup warming tray on top actually works well. The pressurized baskets are very forgiving, but if you want to take your espresso game to the next level, we highly recommend buying a non-pressurized basket and a good burr grinder. It turns a great machine into an elite one.

What to Consider Before Buying

Before you buy, be realistic about the kind of drinks you want to make. If you primarily drink straight espresso or Americanos, this machine is flawless. If you drink a lot of large lattes, keep in mind that the water tank is small (35 oz) and the steam wand only has enough continuous power to froth milk for one or two drinks before you have to wait for it to reheat. Also, the machine only comes with pressurized baskets. This is great for beginners using pre-ground coffee, but if you already buy fresh specialty beans and grind them finely for espresso, a pressurized basket can choke the flow. You will need to upgrade the basket for about 15 dollars to get the most out of fresh beans. Finally, the cup clearance under the spout is quite low—you can only fit a short espresso cup, not a tall travel mug, without removing the drip tray.
